Temple Festival 2013

Danny Law Heng Kiang, was held on Thursday, 13th December 2012 at 10.00
a.m. in the Meeting Room of Hokkien Kongsi in Snake Temple, Penang.
As Year 2013 is the Year of the Snake, Penang State Tourism together
with Hokkien Kongsi, Penang and the Snake Temple Resident Area
Committee have decided to hold the first Ban Ka Lan Snake Temple
Festival on the birthday of “Cheng Chooi Chor Soo” which falls on the
6th day of the 1st lunar moon in the Chinese calendar.
Tickets are being sold for the Charity Food Fair and the proceeds will
be in aid of Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital. As Penang is a
well-known Hawkers Paradise in this region, there will be hawker stalls
promoting our famous street food for the enjoyment of patrons and
visitors to Penang.
To showcase our multiracial, multicultural tapestry of life and
traditions in Penang, we will have culinary experts from all races
demonstrating their skills on how to make traditional food.
Various shows and cultural performances will also be staged for the
entertainment of all visitors.
Chinese all over the world celebrate Chinese New Year from the 1st to
15th day of the 1st lunar month of the Chinese calendar and in the Year
2013, it will be from 10th to 24th February inclusive. So we are
asking all races and foreign visitors to Penang to come and celebrate
Chinese New Year with us at the Ban Ka Lan Snake Temple Festival on
Cheng Chooi Chor Soo Kong’s birthday on 15th February 2013. It is going
to be a Double Celebration.
So do join us as it is going to be a fun-filled evening with lots of
food and activities for your families. In addition, it is also to
show our appreciation for the sterling work and dedication of Mount
Miriam Cancer Hospital for our community.
