EVENT - Jointly organised by Penang State Tourism, Hokkien Kongsi, Penang and Snake Temple Resident Area Committee

Ban Ka Lan Snake Temple Festival 2013
    Penang, Malaysia

    Date:  15.02.2013
    Time:  5.00 p.m. to 12 midnight
Venue:  Whole stretch of road in front of Snake Temple, Jalan Tokong Ular, Penang

In conjunction with the above event, a press conference chaired by Y.B. Danny Law Heng Kiang, was held on Thursday, 13th December 2012 at 10.00 a.m. in the Meeting Room of Hokkien Kongsi in Snake Temple, Penang.

As Year 2013 is the Year of the Snake, Penang State Tourism together with Hokkien Kongsi, Penang and the Snake Temple Resident Area Committee have decided to hold the first Ban Ka Lan Snake Temple Festival on the birthday of “Cheng Chooi Chor Soo” which falls on the 6th day of the 1st lunar moon in the Chinese calendar.

Tickets are being sold for the Charity Food Fair and the proceeds will be in aid of Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital.  As Penang is a well-known Hawkers Paradise in this region, there will be hawker stalls promoting our famous street food for the enjoyment of patrons and visitors to Penang.

To showcase our multiracial, multicultural tapestry of life and traditions in Penang, we will have culinary experts from all races demonstrating their skills on how to make traditional food.  Various shows and cultural performances will also be staged for the entertainment of all visitors.

Chinese all over the world celebrate Chinese New Year from the 1st to 15th day of the 1st lunar month of the Chinese calendar and in the Year 2013, it will be from 10th to 24th February inclusive.  So we are asking all races and foreign visitors to Penang to come and celebrate Chinese New Year with us at the Ban Ka Lan Snake Temple Festival on Cheng Chooi Chor Soo Kong’s birthday on 15th February 2013. It is going to be a Double Celebration.

So do join us as it is going to be a fun-filled evening with lots of food and activities for your families.  In addition, it is also to show our appreciation for the sterling work and dedication of Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital for our community.

Your support for this event would be much appreciated by Penang State Tourism; Hokkien Kongsi, Penang; Snake Temple Resident Area Committee and Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, Penang.
